The Parts Unknown crew—including the Brian Jonestown Massacre’s own Anton Newcombe—went to club-obsessed Berlin, a multicultural city continuing to evolve following the devastation of World War II and the Cold War. Anton cooks a feast (while recording a song) and Tony explores the nightlife. Here are a few highlights from their visit.
Berlin’s clubbing scene is something that other places aspire to. Bourdain met with techno DJ Ellen Allien to hear her spin some tunes and talk about why techno is so important to Berlin’s history.
I aged 30 years in 4 days - thanks @PartsUnknownCNN & @Bourdain 😂 pic.twitter.com/eldSdv2mKS

Never one to rest, Newcombe even found an opportunity to write and record new music with Bourdain and the crew in town.
Pre-currywurst apprehension.
Producer Josh Ferrell mingling with the locals.
Yet another foggy Berlin day.
And foggy night.
Thank you @antonnewcombe for the extraordinary meal. The Icelandic lamb was indeed, amazing. You’d think making brilliant music was enough. But a most excellent cook and host too. #Berlin
